Technically booze isn’t keto-friendly because, like sugar, your body will burn off alcohol before it burns fat. That said, I don’t know many keto peeps who completely abstain, they just hang with low carb options. Vodka, the booze used in this recipe, contains no sugar, and it’s mixed with my favorite drink mixes by Everly, for a totally sugar-free option.
Everly has three lines of drink powders, Energy (with caffeine), Belly Health (with probiotics) and Hydration (with electrolytes). Their main flavors (in order of my favorites first) are Fruit Punch, Strawberry Lemonade, Pomegranate Berry, and Peach Mango. (They also make a “fruit tea” which is my absolute favorite!) Each 16oz serving only uses about a teaspoon, so you get 30 servings per packet. For sweetening, the mixes use Erythritol and Stevia which is nice, and there’s no aftertaste whatsoever, they taste like delicious drinks and that’s it!
For this recipe, I used all four of their flavors listed above, the regular (no caffeine, no probiotic) mix. They’re mixed with unsweetened, unflavored gelatin (I used Knox), water, and vodka, that’s it! The recipe below is to make all four flavors, but if you’re feeling lazy and want to do just one (I recommend Fruit Punch for this recipe), simply use 4 packets of gelatin, 1 cup of cold water, 3 cups of hot water, 2 tsp drink mix, and 1/2 cup vodka. This makes 20 “Gelly” Shots, and each one is only 0.2 carbs, so you can live a little.
This recipe below uses 1 packet of Knox Gelatine, with 1 flavor of Everly, and it makes 5 shots. If you use all four flavors like I did, you’ll make 20 total. I simply made this recipe four times by setting out four small separate bowls, added the cold water and gelatine to each, then made them one by one after that.
Ingredients
- 1 envelope Knox Gelatine
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 3/4 cup boiling water
- 1/2 tsp Everly drink mix
- 2 tbsp vodka
- 5 disposable shot glasses
Instructions
- In a bowl, add cold water, then sprinkle gelatin over it, and wait about a minute. You don’t need to mix it.
- Add boiling water and mix, then add drink mix and whisk until it dissolves completely. Add vodka, then pour into 5 shot glasses. Chill in the refrigerator for at least three hours.
- Repeat for all the flavors and quantities you want to make.
